(Newser) – Richard Martinez lost his son in Elliot Rodger's shooting spree, and yesterday publicly lashed out at those he holds responsible for Chris Martinez's murder: "Why did Chris die? Chris died because of craven, irresponsible politicians and the NRA. They talk about gun rights. What about Chris' right to live?" Martinez says his family is "lost and broken," and that Chris Martinez was "a really great kid." NBC reports that the NRA has thus far kept its silence on the shooting, and has not responded to requests for comment. Rodger obtained his guns legally.

Continued Martinez, as per the Hill: "You don't think it will happen to your child until it does. When will this insanity stop? When will enough people say, stop this madness, we don't have to live like this? Too many have died. We should say to ourselves—not one more."

Ok, that is a awful thing to happen. My Brother lost his life to some freak with a gun, long ago, BUT I actually love guns. The thing is, to me, I blame the a-whole who thought he was someone else...& shot my Bro, NOT any group or law. The answer? I haven't a clue BUT taking away the rights of law abiding citizens, is NOT the answer. I think...it is what it is & try to keep guns from crazy people. How? Again, I haven't a clue, how "we" can, actually achieve that. Just firing squad the guy, end of story. Eye for an eye, on this one.

The people who blame things like this on guns make me laugh-there should be able to be a gun in every home in America-guns DO NOT kill anyone-psycopathic societal misfits who are too weak to deal with not being "cool" or "popular" kill people. Thank you villacapri for pointing out my rather dumb mistake. I have removed the incorrect portions of my comment.
