(Newser) – The Kasem family feud got even more bizarre yesterday, and the strange scene that unfolded in Washington state ended with Casey Kasem hospitalized. It all started on Friday, when a judge ordered Kasem's daughter Kerri to be able to visit her father—and take him for medical care if necessary—for the first time since his wife Jean moved him to Washington without telling his children. (The couple are staying with friends, CNN reports.) But when Kerri got to the Silverdale home yesterday with an ambulance, paramedics weren't allowed inside—and after just a few minutes, someone inside called 911, causing a second ambulance and a fire truck to arrive at the house.

The fire truck left, and Jean Kasem made an appearance ... and chucked a pound of raw hamburger meat at Kerri, NBC News reports. Ultimately, paramedics were allowed inside, and Casey Kasem was brought to the hospital. As for the meat-throwing, Jean explained to NBC that she was following a Bible verse: "In the name of King David, I threw a piece of raw meat into the street in exchange for my husband to the wild rabid dogs." Well, that explains that. It's not clear why Casey Kasem was hospitalized, but at Friday's hearing, Kerri Kasem said a doctor told her the 82-year-old was suffering from lung and bladder infections and bed sores. After that hearing, Jean Kasem held a press conference at which she played a recording supposedly of Casey Kasem moaning; she claimed he was "crying" over the judge's decision.

Sad when you are an icon to many generations with a 40+ year career.... to live out your remaining days in this condition.

The throwing of the meat symbolizes her meal ticket getting taken away.

We have so many amateur comedians in here, with questionable material. This is a really sad story. I guess no one wants to face the fact that they too might find themselves in a situation when they are old and helpless, being taken care of by a person with dementia. It could be a painful and awful slow death. I wouldn't wish that on anyone or make a joke about it.
