(Newser) Community has been saved: Yesterday, the last day the contracts for the stars of the show could legally be renewed, the series was picked up by ... none other than Yahoo. Yes, after NBC canceled the cult favorite, its sixth season will air online, the Wire reports. The 13-episode season will still feature Dan Harmon as showrunner, Vulture reports. The show's dedicated fans have been clamoring for "six seasons and a movie," and industry insiders say there's a chance—though nothing official—a feature film could happen in the future. Yahoo's chief marketing officer says she hopes to "build and extend and prolong" the series beyond the next season.

Hooray for Community! I love their intellectual humor and their camaraderie. I guess I'll have to learn how to get Yahoo-TV. A movie would be the bomb! On local TV I can think of a number of shows they could replace in terms of quality and content. For one, I am sick of The Bachelor. It is for nobody else but the lonely hearts' club out there in the viewing population. Why don't they just publish a "Bachelor" series in softback? I get so sick of seeing all that wiping of mascara and then looking at it on their fingers. That's gross. Then there are the he-and-she infantile and juvenile jealousies... all of this amid posh settings and geographical wonders pitted with contradictions of many human emotions. Look at some real life situations and how well (and wittingly) they are handled on Community. ... all that mascara and those ice-cold kisses, ugh.
