(Newser) – Just how bad is the violence in Iraq? So bad that the world's largest cemetery, a 1,500-acre area that contains 5 million graves, is running out of space, the Wall Street Journal reports. The war has doubled the rate of new arrivals to 200 a day, and some families are resorting to digging up sidewalks or stealing lots to cram their loved ones in. "It is just like the days when we had regular explosions in Baghdad," an undertaker says.

Wadi al-Salam, which means "Valley of Peace," is located in Najaf, around the mosque where Imam Ali, the Prophet Muhammad's son-in-law is buried. While local officials say they have room for thousands more graves, the desirable spaces close to the mosque are fast disappearing. Plots of 500 square feet now cost more than $10,000—up from $1,500 in 1991—though rogue gravediggers will sneak bodies into plots for far cheaper. "It has become a business to make money, like any other," laments one Najaf businessman. Click for the full story.

You first, homer1057: WHEN I will spend eternity? We are inside eternity: a physical eternity that a spiritual eternity encompasses in which are all the same benefits: His will be done in earth as it is in heaven . . . - From what are you saved? Death. You've been conned, however, into believing you have to die. That's a spiel from the ministers of righteousness. Pulpits are full of ministers of righteousness preaching death every month, week, or day. They preach DEATH. Study for the sake of your soul (your life's physical body here and what part of you goes on spiritually from here), homer1057. - You sound like the type who would tell naive, easily conned people, "Oh, you don't really have to be baptized; you'll still be saved." Horse sht! Sounds like fruit from a bad tree to me, that I wouldn't feed to a garbage disposal. According to Jesus, His Father's well-studied Word, you sinned and died the first death before you arrived in this world and choose for yourself a second death, not believing in Christ. - The wages of sin is death. Jesus forgave you of all your past sins, correct? If you die therefore you have sinned yourself to death, most of all because you failed to believe Jesus when He said, "If a man liveth (is alive) and believeth (believes) in me, he'll never die (he'll never die)." But you've been taught by the ministers of righteousness that you have to die; and, you believe the ministers of righteousness: Satan's heralders, not the voice of our Lord. - If Jesus died for you, and it's eye for an eye, death for death, why do you believe you have to die, unless, of course, you don't believe John 3:16 and John 8:51. - Obviously no commenter here has done any serious studying of the Holy Scriptures, or they would have remembered Jesus' words, "He who believes AND IS BAPTIZED shall be saved." Sounds like A WORK to me. - Obviously no intellectually challenged commenter here is more than casually familiar, if that, with Scripture, baptized or not.
