Albert Ebosse.   (News Today)

(Newser) – Algerian soccer fans angry over their team's 2-1 loss started throwing objects—reportedly rocks—at their players, and the defeat quickly turned tragic when 24-year-old JS Kabylie player Albert Ebosse got hit in the head. The star striker later "succumbed to a head injury," according to a team statement, and died in the hospital, reports the BBC. Ebosse, a Cameroonian who was the Algerian league's leading goal scorer in the 2013-2014 season, had scored his team's lone goal, notes the Daily Mirror. The president of the Confederation of African Football called for "exemplary sanctions" to be taken and said that soccer "cannot be the breeding ground for hooliganism whatsoever."

Hard to believe how ugly people can be. There seems to be no limit to the evil some folks are willing to do to others. if it were up to me Algeria would have no team or games in their country. That would have been the last one. What a disgusting group of so-called fans.

This is a sport, it is not a life or death situation. It is a sad day when the fans get so angry and upset, they take it out on the team, and end up killing one of their best players. Rest in peace, Mr. Ebosse.

We do not need another "Sport" of this characther to sanction these types of insane acts from its' fans. Remember the old joke, 'I went to a Prize Fight last night and a HOCKEY GAME broke out!' That was funny, this is not. The Fans have destroyed the bleacher seats and are famously "Out of Control". I remember when the Miami Sport, played with a Sesta, and indoors, (I've forgotten how to spell it) had a RIOT when Players obviously' Threw a Game'! Some Jurisdictions have Imposed Arrest Warrants and charges of Assault against Hockey Players involved in a fight on the Ice. That helped. I just scratch my head over Soccer for now. Why not do bloodless (?) Bull Fights in the Old Miami Orange Bowl in downtown Miami? Parking would be an enormous problem with all the Latinos who would flock to them. AND others. I used to like those until some Matadors got gored. ~Rick Magee, "MOLON LABE"
