St. Louis ranks last in the NHL on the power play; Columbus ranks third in penalty-kills. So it was an unlikely surprise when the Blues scored three power play goals against the Blue Jackets in a 5-1 win today. Brad Boyes, the Blues first 30-goal scorer in four years, tacked on his 31st, while Eric Brewer had a career-best four assists.
Rick Nash scored the only goal for the Blue Jackets. It was his second short-handed goal of the month and his sixth in six games against the Blues this season. St. Louis has won three of their last four and is now tied with Columbus for 11th place in the Western Conference, currently three points from the eighth and final playoff spot.
