When Brett and Naghmeh King pulled their 5-year-old son, Ashya, who is suffering from brain cancer, out of a British hospital, international authorities launched a hunt for the family. This weekend, the parents were arrested in Malaga, Spain, CNN reports; their charges may include cruelty. They headed to France with all seven of their children the night after removing Ashya, police say. He's now being treated in a Spanish hospital.

Brett King says in a YouTube video that he and Naghmeh "pleaded" with doctors in Britain for proton beam treatment for Ashya. The doctors said it wouldn't help, King says, but information he found online suggested otherwise. In another YouTube video, Ashya's brother, Naveed, says his parents were equipped to care for Ashya when they took him from care. The Kings reportedly headed to Spain to sell their vacation home there in order to get money for treatment in the Czech Republic, the BBC notes. "We just want the best for Ashya," Brett King says. The US has seen similar hospital cases. (More arrest stories.)
