Alley aims to cash in on weight loss with own diet brand

(Newser) – After cutting her ties with weight-loss company Jenny Craig, former spokeswoman Kirstie Alley tells People she's getting into the diet field herself. "I want to create something new that will help millions of people end the seemingly never-ending fatty roller-coaster ride," says the slimmer 57-year-old, who aims to have her brand on store shelves next year.

There's no bad blood between Kirstie and Jenny; a spokesman for Jenny Craig says the company wishes Alley "all the best in her future endeavors," and Alley says the endorser-endorsee bond "was nothing short of extraordinary." And the program will take a little while to start up. "Don't 'Call Kirstie' just yet. You'll be on hold too long," says Alley.
