Some people drown their sorrows in chocolate. For one Chinese woman, chicken wings were apparently the thing. Via Central European News, Yahoo UK! has the story of Tan Shen, a 26-year-old who found herself at a 24-hour KFC in China’s southwest Sichuan Province after being dumped by her boyfriend. She ordered some comfort food—as she explains it, she was feeling "miserable" and "just wanted some chicken wings." But as she started eating, she realized she also could use some thinking time; she also didn't want to head back to her memory-filled apartment. So she stayed. And stayed, even calling in sick to work.

Mashable notes that because of the way the shifts work, it took staff a while to catch on. After three days, they realized they had been serving the same woman, and asked if she was OK. She assured them she was and then "asked for another box of chicken wings with extra large fries," says one worker. Why Shen finally left: She was "getting sick of the taste of chicken" and the local media caught wind of her story. She headed to her parents' home. Says one worker: "I guess we kind of miss her. It certainly made work more interesting." KFC has been having a tough time of late in China, Forbes noted earlier this month. Same-store sales were down 14% in Q3; in July, workers at a KFC meat supplier were filmed using expired meat. (More KFC stories.)
