Xavier Tops Dayton, Assures A-10 Title Tie

No. 18 Louisville squeaks by Pitt; No. 21 Irish outshoot 'Cuse

(Newser) – Xavier extended its winning streak to 10 games, including six straight on the road, with a 57-51 win over struggling Dayton. The No. 10 Musketeers, 12-1 in conference play, are assured of at least a tie for the Atlantic 10 title, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer. Senior Josh Duncan was the only one in double figures for Xavier with 14 points. Elsewhere:

  • Louisville used 58% shooting and withstood the persistent Panthers late in the second half to hang on for a 75-73 win at Pitt. David Padgett led the Cardinals with 21 points while Edgar Sosa had 18.
  • Kyle McAlarney made a school-record nine three-pointers on only 11 attempts and scored 30 points to lead host Notre Dame over Syracuse, 94-87.
