One of the stories of hope that came out of the Boston Marathon bombing doesn't have a fairy-tale ending after all. Rebekah Gregory, who was badly injured while waiting at the finish line along with then-boyfriend Pete DiMartino, is separating from DiMartino after less than a year of marriage, People reports. "After the decision was made to amputate my leg in November, I found myself having to make an even more painful choice—to separate from my husband Pete," Gregory tells People. "Over the last several months I've come to realize that going through such a horrific event together put a fast-forward on our relationship that we each handled differently."

"I truly gave it my all, and have been fully invested in keeping this marriage, and my commitment before God," the 27-year-old says. "I still love Pete with all of my heart and ask that everyone respect our privacy as we try to figure out our next steps." Gregory, who has a 7-year-old son from a previous relationship, now has a prosthetic leg—as well as a career as an inspirational speaker—and plans to run in this year's Boston Marathon, though she has spoken recently on her Facebook page of feeling "overwhelmed" and having nightmares, which she suspects are related to the trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, reports the New York Daily News.
