Ducks Knock Out Flames in Punchy Game

Blue Jackets pull together a swift late rally to shock Canucks in OT

(Newser) – The Ducks all but shut down the Flames last night, cruising to a 3-1 victory on 22 saves by Jean-Sebastien Giguere, the Los Angeles Times reports. The raucous contest, which included 82 minutes of penalty time for both teams, saw first blood when Mathieu Schneider scored 35 seconds in, and two power-play goals topped things off. Meanwhile, in Vancouver:

None of the goals in the Blue Jackets' 3-2 victory came on power plays. St. Louis clawed its way back from a 2-0 hole in the third period on shots 70 seconds apart by Andrew Murray and Rick Nash, and Jason Chimera didn't wait much more than a minute into the extra period to slip one past the Canucks' Roberto Luongo.
