Memphis Claims 3rd Straight C-USA Title

Texas Tech upsets No. 5 Texas, Arkansas does same to Vandy

(Newser) – No. 2 Memphis clinched its third straight Conference USA regular-season title with a 76-67 win over Southern Mississippi today, reports the Associated Press. Derrick Rose led the Tigers (28-1, 14-0) with 24 points as they won their 37th consecutive conference game. The Tigers have been in the top two in the AP poll for a school-record 13 straight weeks. In other Top 25 action:

  • Pat Knight got his second win over a ranked team since taking over for his dad, as Texas Tech upset No. 5 Texas 83-80. The Red Raiders made 34 free throws in the Big 12 game.
  • No. 18 Vanderbilt's 7-game winning streak, which included a win over No. 1 Tennessee, came to end as Arkansas held on for a 78-73 SEC win.
