The shooting "effectively disabled" the Dell XPS 410 computer, police say.   (Colorado Springs Police Department)

A Colorado Springs man who saw the "blue screen of death" on his computer one too many times decided to take it out back and put it out of its misery. Lucas Hinch, 37, was cited for discharging a firearm within city limits after he put eight bullets into the Dell computer on Monday night, the Colorado Springs Gazette reports. "He got tired of fighting with his computer for the last several months," a police spokesman says. The execution in an alley behind his home "effectively disabled" the PC, according to an arrest report obtained by the Smoking Gun. Police say Hinch was "good-natured" about the citation and told them he didn't know he was breaking the law, reports the Gazette, which notes that the "computer is not expected to recover."
