Brit Owes Dad $2,500 a Week, Court Rules

Posted Mar 6, 08 7:26 PM CST in Arts & Living Gossip

(Newser) – A Los Angeles court has pegged the price of being Britney Spears' dad at $2,500 a week, E! Online reports, plus car-rental expenses. Jamie Spears was given control of the pop princess' estate Feb. 1, while his 26-year-old daughter was hospitalized for mental issues. The court yesterday ordered that conservatorship, which was to expire earlier this week, extended through July.

The wide-ranging ruling also authorizes a $58,800 payment to the court-appointed attorney representing Britney Spears in the conservatorship case, plus a $9,000 retainer for two doctors to be hired by her psychiatrist. A separate hearing is set for Monday in the custody battle between Spears and her ex-husband over their two young sons.
