Joan Jett is disputing a former bandmate's account that she witnessed her friend being raped and did nothing to stop it. "Anyone who truly knows me understands that if I was aware of a friend or bandmate being violated, I would not stand by while it happened," writes Jett in a Facebook post. "For a group of young teenagers thrust into 70s rock stardom there were relationships that were bizarre, but I was not aware of this incident. Obviously Jackie’s story is extremely upsetting and although we haven’t spoken in decades, I wish her peace and healing."

She's referring to Jackie Fuchs, who was known as Jackie Fox while the two were in the iconic band the Runaways decades ago. In a lengthy Huffington Post piece, Fuchs said she was drugged and then raped by male band manager Kim Fowley as several others, including Jett, watched. Fuchs says she was inspired to come forward because of the Bill Cosby allegations. (More Joan Jett stories.)
