(Newser) – The Phoenix Coyotes looked on their way to their first win over the Montreal Canadiens since 1998 last night when everything fell apart, reports the Associated Press. The Canadiens scored three third-period goals and Carey Price had 37 saves in a 4-2 win. Phoenix led 2-1 when Saku Koivu, Andrei Markov and Sergei Kostitsyn all scored. In other NHL action:

  • Alexandre Burrows scored a short-handed goal 37 seconds into the game as the Vancouver Canucks rode a 4-goal first period to a 6-2 win over the Nashville Predators.
  • The Colorado Avalanche's Jose Theodore had his second shutout of the season as his 27 saves shut down the Anaheim Ducks, 1-0.
