A white University of Cincinnati police officer has been indicted on murder charges after he fatally shot an unarmed black man in the head during a traffic stop, reports the Guardian. Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters didn't hold back in his criticism of accused officer Ray Tensing, reports Cincinnati.com: "He purposely killed him," says Deters. "He never should have been a police officer." Deters also called Tensing's decision to pull over Samuel DuBose, 43, for a missing front license plate on July 19 a "chicken crap stop." He added, "This is without question a murder."

Tensing has said that DuBose refused to exit the car and a struggle ensued, during which he fired his weapon while being dragged near the car. "Nonsense," says Deters, who maintains that Tensing fell backward only after shooting DuBose in the head. The university canceled classes in advance of today's grand jury decision, reports the AP. A warrant is out for Tensing's arrest. Video from Tensing's body cam has been released. (More University of Cincinnati stories.)
