(Newser) – Add one more bit of heritage to Barack Obama’s rich texture of multi-ethnicity; it turns out he’s Irish, too. His great-great-great grandfather on his mother’s side was Fulmuth Kearney, originally from the tiny village of Moneygall in Ireland.

According to Ancestory.com Kearney left Ireland in 1850 aboard the S.S. Marmion, fleeing the potato famine. His great-great granddaughter, Ann Durham is Obama’s mother. "I was hoping Hillary would get in, but now this has come up and I'd love to see him win," said Julia Hayes, proprietor of one of Moneygall’s two pubs.
