(Newser) – Oscar Pistorius has been released from prison and is now under house arrest, CNN reports. The Olympic runner had been in prison in South Africa since October of last year; he was sentenced to five years for culpable homicide in the 2013 shooting death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. But a South African parole board last week said he could serve the remaining four years of his sentence under house arrest and "correctional supervision." As the AP reported last week, Pistorius was acquitted of murder, but prosecutors appealed and if he is ultimately convicted of murder, Pistorius faces 15 years behind bars.
