Atlanta edged into the eighth slot in the Eastern Conference playoff race with a 105-96 road victory against Washington, reports AP. Mike Bibby scored 23 points and Joe Johnson had 18 points, 10 assists for the Hawks, who shot 55% from the field as the perennial cellar dwellars try to earn their first playoff berth in nine seasons.
Atlanta's rookie center Al Horford added 12 points and 15 rebounds in snapping Washington's three-game winning streak. Antawn Jamison, the reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Week, had 25 points, as Washington dropped to .500 on the season (33-33) and only a half-game ahead of seventh-place Philadelphia.
