Cobain Isn't Curt in New Documentary

Posted Mar 21, 08 4:07 PM CDT in Arts & Living

(Newser) – A new documentary tells the story of Kurt Cobain’s life in the singer’s own words, the Independent reports. Kurt Cobain: About a Son, on DVD this month, is constructed around 25 hours of previously unreleased interviews of the Nirvana frontman by journalist Michael Azerrad. Cobain, who committed suicide in 1994, speaks openly about his band, his marriage, and his childhood.

“I don't think I'd ever heard his voice that much,” one music journalist says. "He really did wear his heart on his sleeve." Cobain criticizes his bandmates over songwriting-credit disagreements, chats about stealing pot from his mom, and discusses his wife, Courtney Love: “She made me feel like a rebel.”
