Canseco Now Thinks Clemens Was Clean

Posted Mar 27, 08 3:15 AM CDT in Crime & Courts Sports

(Newser) – Former Bash Brother Jose Canseco has backed down from charges that Roger Clemens used more than workouts to pump his pitching arm. Contradicting what's written in his own books, "Juiced" and the upcoming "Vindicated," Canseco said in a TV interview that he now doesn't believe the Rocket used steroids, Newsday reports.

"If I were an investigator and had to go on evidence on Roger Clemens, then I would say no" on steroid use, Canseco declared in the ABC Nightline interview to be aired tonight. But he isn't retreating from his claims that Alex Rodriguez took steroids. He refuses to offer proof implicating A-Rod, claiming that "timing's not right."
