(Newser) – Mariah Carey unseated Elvis for the No. 2 spot in chart-topping songs this week. Her single "Touch My Body" became her 18th No. 1 and pushed Elvis into third place, the Los Angeles Times reports. The Beatles' all-time record of 20 remains, but Carey could eclipse the Fab Four by the end of summer.

Carey's new album, E=MC2, is expected to be a hot seller after it hits store shelves on April 15. "Touch My Body" itself sold 286,000 downloads its first week out. And Elvis took another blow this week, when Madonna's new track "4 Minutes," featuring Justin Timberlake, became her 37th top-10 hit, eclipsing the king's mark.

With the release of Touch My Body, Mariah Carey has surpassed Elvis Presley with 18 No. 1 singles in her career. Carey is now inching toward the record of 20 held by the Beatles.
