John Cale, founding member of the Velvet Underground, will play the band's "legendary" album The Velvet Underground & Nico live in its entirety next year, the BBC reports. The shows in Liverpool and New York will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of the album, which only sold 30,000 copies during its first five years. It has since come to be known as one of the most influential albums ever. Cale will be performing the album with guest musicians: "There will be a lot of characters," he says. "I'm going to find some really good personas to come and join and it will be great." (More Velvet Underground stories.)
