Rihanna is more than just a musician: She's Harvard University's Humanitarian of the Year for 2017. In announcing the honor, the university noted Rihanna's charitable projects, including a breast cancer screening and treatment center she helped build in Barbados and a scholarship program she created for students from Caribbean countries who are attending US colleges. She also supports the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen Project, which works to give kids in developing countries access to education, and she recently took an HIV test in Barbados on World AIDS Day in an effort to raise awareness. She will travel to Harvard on Tuesday to accept the award, USA Today reports. (More Rihanna stories.)
