A Trayvon Martin movie and TV series are coming out, thanks to Jay Z. The rapper is teaming with the Weinstein Company to make a six-part docu-series as well as a narrative feature film focusing on the life and death of Martin, the 17-year-old shot and killed by George Zimmerman in Florida in 2012. The projects will be based on two books: Suspicion Nation by Lisa Bloom, who covered the trial for NBC and who looks at the mistakes prosecutors made, and Rest in Power by Martin's parents, which looks at his childhood and his death. Martin's death, and Zimmerman's eventual acquittal, sparked protests and ultimately contributed to the creation of the Black Lives Matter movement, Variety reports. (More Trayvon Martin stories.)
