Val Kilmer: 'I Didn't Say Anything Weird' About Blanchett

Val Kilmer doesn't think his weekend-long string of tweets declaring his undying admiration for Cate Blanchett was strange at all. "I don’t know why loving an actor that’s so talented is creepy, but I guess I’m creepy," said Kilmer, 57, at a film screening of his one-man play in California. An audience member asked him who his favorite co-star was during the Q&A portion of the evening, People reports, which is what got Kilmer started. "I can’t say Cate Blanchett," he responded. "I wrote nice things about Cate Blanchett on Twitter and now I’m a pervert."

He went on to say that he writes about all his friends, and he just doesn't understand why there was such an uproar after the Blanchett lovefest. "It makes no sense," he said. "I didn't say anything weird." SheKnows runs down similarly "interesting" behavior from Kilmer in the past: In 1987, for example, he self-published a poem he wrote about Michelle Pfeiffer after they worked together on an ABC after-school special. And earlier this year, he tweeted that he had "once ... whispered to #BridgetBardot all night... in the south of France... and I don't speak much French... and she speaks even less English."
