Prince Philip was taken to a hospital Tuesday night as a "precautionary measure," says Buckingham Palace. The 96-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth II was taken by car to London's King Edward VII hospital to be treated for an infection stemming from a preexisting condition, reports USA Today. Aides tell the Guardian that the situation is not an emergency and the Duke of Edinburgh "is up and about and is in good spirits." Philip announced in May he will retire from royal engagements in the fall. (More Prince Philip stories.)
