After watching a Rachel Maddow Show segment that was critical of Trump’s attorney, Marc Kasowitz, a viewer dashed off an email to the lawyer saying he should quit. The response he probably didn't expect to get from Kasowitz? “F--- you.” This was the first in a series of alarming email responses the unidentified man received from Kasowitz, reports ProPublica, which confirmed the details of the exchange. (You can see the forwarded email exchange in full on Twitter). The viewer's initial email, with the subject line “Resign Now,” was sent after he watched Maddow speak about a ProPublica article speculating that Kasowitz, Trump’s personal lawyer regarding the Russia investigation, wasn’t seeking security clearance because troubling behavior including alcohol abuse would prevent him from obtaining it.
Kasowitz blasted off the two-word response five minutes later, then followed up three times, writing "Watch your back, b---" and "I already know where you live, I’m on you." Per ProPublica, the man immediately forwarded Kasowitz’s emails to the FBI in case he made good on his promises. A spokesperson for Kasowitz says he intends to apologize for the exchange, writing, "While no excuse, the email came at the end of a very long day that at 10pm was not yet over." The Hollywood Reporter also has a statement from Kasowitz: "The person sending that email is entitled to his opinion and I should not have responded in that inappropriate manner. ... This is one of those times where one wishes he could reverse the clock, but of course I can’t." "Maddow herself responded to the story on Twitter: "I'm going to need a new cup of coffee, since the old one just came flying out of my nose."
