Is That You, Samantha?

(Newser) – Kim Cattrall had to pull a quick-change to start filming the Sex and the City movie: she’d just come off the set of a PBS film in which she played the buttoned-up wife of Rudyard Kipling, the New York Daily News reports. “It was definitely a challenging transition” says the actress, best known for her portrayal of unfettered cougar Samantha Jones.

The TV movie My Boy Jack, which airs Sunday, resonated with Cattrall. “I always was very excited by the whole imperialistic period of the 1890s,” she told the Huffington Post. She also had an ulterior motive: she wanted her nephew, who hopes to fight in Iraq, to see the story of Kipling’s son, who was eager to serve in the First World War. So far, her efforts to dissuade him haven't worked..
