Being a sports fan is easier in some cities than others. To figure out which cities are the absolute best for fans, 24/7 Wall St. scored all US cities with at least one professional team (NFL, NBA, NHL, or MLB) on such factors as total number of teams, number of championship wins, consistency of winning records, team payrolls, big stars on the teams, and more. The 5 cities that came out on top:

  1. Los Angeles: With seven teams, 10 championships over the last two decades, big names like Magic Johnson and Wayne Gretzky having played in the city, and two NFL teams newly moved to the city, it's hard to beat LA for sports fandom these days.
  2. Boston: The Patriots have won five Super Bowls since 2002, the Red Sox have won three World Series since 2004, the Bruins have six Stanley Cups under their belt, and the Celtics have been NBA champs 17 times.

  1. New York: The Yankees have won the most titles of any other franchise in the four major US sports leagues with 27 World Series wins; 44 of the team's players are in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The city's seven other teams are pretty impressive as well.
  2. Chicago: Yes, this city makes the top five despite having disappointed Cubs fans many times between 1908 and 2016. Most of the cities' teams have good enough records to at least make the "postsesason discussion" most years, and the city has six championships over the past two decades.
  3. San Antonio: It has just one team, the Spurs, but that team has not missed the playoffs since 1997 and has five NBA titles.
