Not that Amazon would tell you where to shop for groceries, but if you find yourself in the checkout line at its newly acquired Whole Foods, it might have a suggestion for how to pay. The retail behemoth is now offering 5% cash back to Prime members who use their Amazon Rewards Visa to pick up the grocery tab there, reports CNBC. Cardholders already get 5% back on Amazon purchases, 2% at restaurants, gas stations, and drugstores, and 1% back on everything else. Amazon is moving aggressively to cross-promote its brands—CNBC notes that one can purchase an Echo at Whole Foods—but the move might have more practical sense in that Amazon will likely save on credit card fees on its own cards, notes Recode.
