Blogger Weighs Health Care Plans, Flunks McCain

(Newser) – Hacking through the forest of reporting on the presidential candidates' health care plans, Glamour blogger Megan Carpentier weighs in. Writing "as someone born with a birth defect who has been known to get sick," she bluntly begins, "I know enough about my own health insurance situation over the last decade to be able to say with absolute certainty that our health insurance system in this country sucks." 

A young freelancer with plenty of firsthand insurance knowledge, Carpentier concludes that John McCain’s plan “would do nothing for me,” noting that he would remove the incentive for employers to provide coverage to low-paid workers. Hillary Clinton’s requirement that everyone buy insurance makes Carpentier uncomfortable, but she prefers it to Barack Obama's—and notes that "either is better than the current system or McCain's 'reforms.'"
