Hollywood Star Bloodied in Dive Bar 'Death Match'

It's part of David Arquette's wrestling comeback

David Arquette's wrestling comeback took an ugly turn Friday when he participated in a so-called "death match" that left him bloodied and clutching an open wound, Fox News reports. The 47-year-old Scream actor faced off against Nick Gage at the Hi Hat bar in Los Angeles, where they battled with chairs and light tubes in an apparent free-for-all that Indiewire calls "ultraviolent" and TMZ dubs "brutal." At one point Gage breaks a light tube over Arquette's head, forcing the actor to grab a bloody neck wound. Yet the fight continues as Gage stomps Arquette, Arquette hits Gage with a chair, and Gage pins Arquette for a three-count. Match over.

As Arquette tweeted afterward, "Death Matches aren't my thing." The former star of wrestling-themed flick Ready to Rumble, Arquette has wrestled competitively before and even became WCW World Heavyweight Champion in 2000. Friday night was part of his wrestling return: "I literally feel like I'm Rocky, I mean like I’m in the gym sweating like crazy going to the gym every day for hours, you know, getting it so I don't get winded so easily and putting on muscle [and] losing a bunch of weight, so it's all about training, it's all about determination, it's all about, you know, believing in yourself," he told Fox News in September.
