Posted May 10, 08 9:52 PM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Scott Kazmir pitched six scoreless innings and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Los Angeles Angels 2-0 tonight to hand Joe Saunders his first loss of the season. Kazmir (1-1) held the Angels to a single and two doubles in his second start of the year. Evan Longoria drove in the only run off Saunders (6-1).

Saunders, trying to become the AL's first seven-game winner, allowed four hits, struck out three and walked a season-high four in six innings. Kazmir walked three and struck out six against the Angels, who have lost three straight and have not scored in their last 18 innings. Troy Percival recorded his eighth save in nine opportunities for the Rays.
