BlackBerry Gets a Bold Facelift

Posted May 12, 08 8:53 AM CDT in Business Technology

(Newser) – The new BlackBerry Bold was unveiled today, sporting a sleek update aimed at keeping its traditional business clientele from defecting to the iPhone. The silver-rimmed Bold is Research in Motion's first to run on speedy 3G wireless networks designed to handle multimedia content and has a faster processor to handle business software, the Wall Street Journal reports.

RIM aims to maintain market growth for BlackBerry, which has almost doubled in each of the past 3 years, and stands at more than 14 million worldwide. To that end, RIM plans a joint $150-million venture-capital fund to support software and services for Blackberry and similar gadgets.
