Spielberg Launches Puzzle Game

Posted May 12, 08 4:02 PM CDT in Technology

(Newser) – As if the release of the next Indiana Jones film wasn’t enough to keep him busy, Steven Spielberg launched a new video game for the Wii last week, called Boom Blox, ABC News reports. A puzzle game with cute characters and engaging animations, it was created with the intent of "bringing grownups and kids together with a great activity," Spielberg says.

In the game, characters manipulate different types of blocks to solve puzzles, whether it’s finding the sweet spot to destroy a block structure in one go, or removing blocks without toppling the overall structure, á la Jenga. Being a bit overwhelmed with movies, Spielberg says he enjoys getting away to develop games. And besides: “in terms of annual revenues, the gaming industry is larger” than the movie business.
