The kid really wanted to get into that iPad. Instead, the toddler managed to lock it for 25,536,442 minutes, or more than 48 years, reports the Daily News. Parent Evan Osnos, a writer for the New Yorker, tweeted an image of his child's handiwork and the resulting message. "Uh, this looks fake but, alas, it's our iPad today after 3-year-old tried (repeatedly) to unlock. Ideas?" That was on Saturday evening, and so far, the iPad is still locked. Osnos tells Axios that he's had no shortage of suggestions. "Twitter has been a force for good on this one; we've received tons of serious advice," he says. Unfortunately, nothing has worked.

The Canadian outlet CTV talks to a tech-repair guy who has seen similar problems with Apple products. The password lockout begins with a 30-second warning, then keeps going up. "After the hour it's like a crazy 365,000 minutes," he says. "I don't think anyone is going to want to wait 87 years to enter their password again." He suggests a reset through iTunes, which could result in lost data. But that may not be an option here. "The operating system might be too old" for the standard fixes, Osnos tells Axios. "Next step: Genius Bar." (Some common advice about passwords may be off base.)
