NERD frontman Pharrell Williams has lent his Midas touch to more than just hip-hop, Erica Kennedy writes in a Paper profile. The multi-tasking taste-maker boasts luxe clothing and jewelry lines, and friendships and collaborations with assorted style icons. "Pharrell doesn't buy something because it's fashionable," says one comrade in charms. "Pharrell makes fashion."
"It's your attitude that makes it hot," explains Williams, 35, of his style, a sentiment he applies to his massive purple Hermes tote. ("It's not a man purse. It's my travel bag.") But his "nerd chic" isn't just for show—in an industry filled with bling-drenched rappers, Williams took the time from mingling with Marc Jacobs and Anna Wintour to study up on diamonds in Switzerland.
