(Newser) – The Hillary Clinton-Barack Obama rift has divided a once-unified world of liberal bloggers, The New Republic reports. MyDD founder Jerome Armstrong shocked Cyber-lefties 4 months ago by backing Clinton, calling her the "practical choice." Obama fans quickly rallied at Daily Kos, one blasting MyDD as "a toxic waste dump dedicated to throwing slime at Obama and hoping it sticks."

Kos founder Markos Moulitsas joined the fray, sparking a counterattack by 75 pro-Clinton Kos diarists who went on strike. Mouilitsas called them "whiny" and implied that he didn't "give a damn." As for Armstrong, "I tend to be contrarian," he said. "It's a trait that I have." And to think, he and Moulitsas used to get along.
