Susan Posnick ColorFlo: Tinted mineral foundation has SPF 26 protection. $64.
Fekkai Summer Hair Wash & Wear: Protects hair from the sun and doesn't require water. $22.

The New York Times reports today on the growing trend of designer lipstick, one tube of which will cost you up to $60. “I heard and read repeatedly in many of the magazines I go through and devour that his red is the red to be wearing,” said one woman who waited in a long line at Bergdorf Goodman recently to meet designer Tom Ford, whose new cosmetics line is being sold there. Coral yields compound that prevents UV damage

(NEWSER) - Coral from Australia's Great Barrier Reef has yielded a compound that could put a lot of sunscreen makers out of business. Researchers discovered that algae living in the coral created a compound that acts as a sunscreen to protect both the algae and the coral from the sun's rays. They say they are close to synthesizing the compound in the lab, and a pill to prevent both sunburn and eye damage could be on the market within 5 years, the Telegraph reports. More»

Flavonoids contained in grapes are beneficial: study

(NEWSER) - More good news for oenophiles: A new study shows that drinking wine might protect you from sunburn, or at least that's the Telegraph's take. Flavonoids contained in grapes can halt the chemical reaction that causes cell death and skin damage when UV rays hit the skin, Spanish scientists found. The head of the project thinks the research could be used to develop skin-protecting creams and products. UK Bans 'Too Perfect' Julia Roberts L'Oreal Ad

Over-airbrushed Roberts—and Turlington—ads yanked

(NEWSER) - Julia Roberts looks like she hasn't aged a day in her new makeup ad. Now British advertising authorities have told L'Oreal it went too far touching up Roberts'—and Christy Turlington's—face. The cosmetics firm was ordered to pull two overly airbushed magazine ads featuring the models after the regulator decided that the ads—one of which touted a foundation's ability to create "natural light"—had been retouched to an extent likely to mislead consumers, the BBC reports.
