Last Thing Bulls Should Give Rose is Time

Chicago has waited long enough, and this 19-year-old is ready

(Newser) – Chicago Bulls GM John Paxson said after last night's NBA draft that he thinks the team should give Derrick Rose some time to settle in, but he seems to be the only person who thinks so, writes Jay Mariotti of the Chicago Sun-Times. The No. 1 draft pick says he wants to focus on "being a point guard and coming in and starting."

"I'm just going to assume Paxson was delirious and doesn't remember making the comment," Mariotti writes. Rose, he says "needs to play and play a hell of a lot." Gaining Rose means the Bulls will have to shed at least one guard, and the No. 1 draft pick is aware that his return to his hometown means the boot for Kirk Hinrich or Ben Gordon.
