(Newser) – Inaugural American Idol darling Kelly Clarkson has pulled the plug on her summer tour because of dismal ticket sales—just 11 days before her new album hits stores. It's been a rocky week for Clarkson, who canned her manager and has irritated RCA execs by refusing to work with producers from her last Grammy-winning album.

"The fact is that touring is just too much too soon," Clarkson, 25, told fans on her web site. The singer was slated to perform at 31 North American venues to promote My December, a "darker" new album for which Clarkson has reportedly been battling for artistic control.
