The cause of the rift, which has been rumored for months: his "love story" with another woman.

Hollande, the Socialist party leader, has been linked a political journalist for Paris Match magazine; a book including details of the affair was about to be released, the Times reports.  Not only did Royal kick him out of the family home; she's gearing up for a run at his position at the helm of the party.
