The iPhone 3G turns out to be pretty popular, technical glitches or no. Apple sold 1 million units in its first weekend, Bloomberg reports, sending the company’s shares up 3.5%. As of last night, half of the company’s 187 US retail outlets were already sold out. “IPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend,” said Steve Jobs. The original iPhone took 74 days to break the million-unit mark.

"International really hit it out of the park," said one analyst. "This is definitely a faster start than we anticipated." (More iPhone 3G stories.)
