Burning Fans Revolt as Yanks Ban Sunscreen

Security policy greeted with outrage that causes instant reversal

(Newser) – Yankee Stadium’s upper deck has been burning with resentment, the New York Post reports, over a newly expanded ban on sunscreen. Stadium security has taken to confiscating bottles of all shapes and sizes recently, a crackdown that came into focus during the weekend heat wave. “I need my sunblock,” one fan complained. “After they saw me dousing myself with it, it should have been obvious that it was sunblock and not some explosive.”

Burning fans can buy sunscreen inside the gates, but a 1-ounce bottle sells for $5, a markup that makes the beer prices seem reasonable. But never fear fair-skinned Yankee fans, because the voice of the masses has been heard: An hour after the Post asked the red-faced team to comment on the story, the policy was changed to allow 3-ounce bottles.
