Titans CB faces up to 12 years if convicted

(Newser) – Talented-yet-troubled Tennessee defensive back Adam "Pacman" Jones has been charged with two counts of coercion—a felony—in the February Vegas strip club fracas that left a bouncer paralyzed and got Jones suspended for the 2007-08 season. Jones stands accused of biting a bouncer's ankle and making death threats against club employees.

Jones could get a maximum of 12 years in prison and a $10K fine if convicted. Two members of Jones's entourage also face felony charges and have yet to be turned in. No one, however, was accused of the shooting that disabled the now-paralyzed bouncer.

(NEWSER) - Steve McNair's girlfriend bought a gun on Thursday, less than 2 days before she and the retired NFL quarterback were shot to death with the weapon, Nashville police say. A spokesman refused to say who sold Sahel Kazemi the gun but did say it fired five shots, the Tennessean reports. Police have stopped short of calling the crime a murder-suicide. (NEWSER) - Troublemaking cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones will be allowed to play in the Cowboys' season opener against Cleveland, the Dallas Morning News reports. Jones, traded from Tennessee this year, hasn’t played a regular-season game since Dec. 31, 2006. (NEWSER) - The Tennessee Titans finally washed their hands of suspended cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones on Wednesday, agreeing in principle to trade him to the Dallas Cowboys. Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple confirmed the teams had an agreement, but no terms had been filed with the NFL office, which already had closed for the day. More»

(NEWSER) - Adam "Pacman" Jones paid "extortion" money to a 29-year-old man arrested for a Las Vegas strip club shooting that left a club employee paralyzed, police said. Arvin Kenti Edwards, of Renton, Wash., allegedly used go-betweens to reach Jones, who paid $15,000 in two installments after the shooting, according to a police report obtained Monday. More»
