Daniel Radcliffe's stunt double in the Harry Potter films was tragically paralyzed from the chest down while filming the penultimate movie of the series in 2009. Now, Radcliffe is helping to tell his story in a documentary coming out in November on HBO. David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived will tell what it refers to as the "coming-of-age" story of Holmes, who was a teenage gymnast when he was chosen to double for Radcliffe in the first Potter movie, when Radcliffe was 11 years old, per the Hollywood Reporter. Over the next decade, according to a synopsis of the documentary, Radcliffe and Holmes formed an "inextricable bond." It was an accident on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 that left Holmes with a broken neck, Variety reports.

He and Radcliffe remained close, launching a podcast in 2020 about stunt performers in Hollywood. Now Radcliffe is an executive producer on the documentary about Holmes, and will also be featured in interviews in the film. "As Daniel and his closest stunt colleagues rally to support David and his family in their moment of need, it is David's extraordinary spirit of resilience that becomes their greatest source of strength and inspiration," reads the description.
