(NEWSER) - Elizabeth Edwards says her husband “made a terrible mistake” in having an affair, but he confessed to her 2 years ago, she writes in a Daily Kos post, months before her breast cancer returned, and "we began a long and painful process in 2006, a process oddly made somewhat easier with my diagnosis in March of 2007." She says her family had faced a lot of challenges together, and would get through this, too. (NEWSER) - John Edwards has asked Rielle Hunter to marry him, and he plans to formally divorce estranged wife Elizabeth to do so, the National Enquirer reports. Edwards allegedly proposed to Hunter, the mother of his daughter Frances Quinn, the same day he told her he would publicly admit paternity after years of denial.
